Paper Jam error message

I have a Brother MFC9160 all-in-one printer/copier/scanner. Yesterday when I tried to print I got an error message telling me there was a paper jam. There is, in fact, no paper jam but nothing I do will persuade the machine to print or to copy. Does anyone have any ideas on this or is it telling me that it's time to get a new one?

These things are often triggered by a small mechanical switch..............search round for one which could be connected to your problem and see if it is stuck in the on positionn..........
