Transfering files to new hardware.

I want to buy a new computer and i want to know how i can transfer all my data, programs/ music / photos etc from my old laptop to a new one.

If you're running XP, there is a utility called 'File and settings transfer wizard' in your accesories. Save to CD or whatever and transfer to new computer. Follow direction. So easy even I can do it.

Note, it saves many of the programs as such and they need to be re-installed, but at least it saves them. Some stuff gets lost but its usually rubbish anyway.

Would 1 cd have enough space for everything?
It depends if your data is less than 650Mb (CD capacity)!
options: 1. use an FTP program to ftp all your files between your computers. 2. transfer files on CDs or DVDs. 3. Use some kind of external hard drive or large-capacity flash key/card to do it
