Yep, I've had the same trouble. I contacted Virgin because I refuse to go with 'EZEEDSL' (shouldn't it be 'EZEEMONEY'?) and they suggested that the MAC code is all I need to transfer to another ISP. EZEEDSL flatly refused to generate the MAC number and I've since found out why: Yes, they're willing to pick up any customers from the fallout of e7even going under BUT they are definitely NOT willing to pay out a nominal generation fee for retrieving the MAC number from BT (who own all the ADSL connected lines) unless you sign up with them, because, hey, if you're paying to go with them, they can justify paying out the fee to have you transferred to them instead. This is definitely a scam my friend, all the information on their redirect website concerning the MAC number is bogus, they just don't want to pay out for customers who are not signing up to their services. I waited on their call-line for an hour and twenty minutes in the hope they would have a pang of conscience and give me my MAC number but no - all I got was some foreign call centre and a guy in a very hard to understand accent telling me there was nothing he could do. Hmm, very helpful. So their best suggestion is this: Let the contract complete on the 14th July, then you can sign up with any ISP you like. Well, that's cracking advice isn't it! In other words, let your ADSL lapse so that BT take it off again, have no internet until the 14th, then sign up with another ISP, pay the extra re-connection fees to get BT to re-instate your ADSL line, then wait another ten days for your request to be processed. Brilliant......
In the end I comlained to Ofcom (www.offcom.org.uk) who know all about the situation with e7even and are looking into it. Trouble is, the case was opened on 12th April. So how long it will be before they sort it out is anyone's guess....
