Try powering down your pc, unplug your broadband modem, re-boot your pc, and when everything is powered up, plug your modem back in. this sometimes shifts what ever glitch is causing this problem. If not, you may need to get both checked by an expert, so hit the Yellow Pages for some prices.
evo 6, I had the same problem and I am also on AOL they was passing me round from pillar to post for about two months in the end it was my modem that was at fault. I had a BT engineer test my line with his modem and his modem was working fine so the BT line was OK.Get in touch with AOL to the manager by letter and telephone telling them the modem is at fault.Good luck I hope you get back on AOL soon???
evo 6, what is your ADSL modem is it a BT Voyager 105,originally I had a 100 BT Voyager until it went wrong and they AOL changed it to the new one.
