Desktop Display Problem

The picture I have chosen through Settings/Control Panel/Display/Background - does not come up when the computer is booted up. It only shows when I physically go in and click on another pic then the one I want again and press Apply. It should automatically show when the computer is booted up. What's stopping this happening - Any ideas out there??

maybe, just maybe, you do not have enough memory on your computer. sorry if that doesn't make sense.
