Firewire to ?

Hi, i recently know about this new technology of Firewire to USB connectors but is there not another way of connecting firewire besides USB like other laptop ports that will be a little more stable? I need a cable that is NOT for camcorders but a sound recording device. Does a firewire connector for this exist?

No, you can't get Firewire to USB (or vice versa) but you can get a PCMCIA card for a laptop that gives you Firewire. Try Maplin:-
