I live out in the sticks so no phone line broadband for me :-(...Does anyone have any real-life experience of satellite broadband either from BT or elsewhere?

If you do decide to look at it, read the T&C's very closely - I did and decided against it!
How much in the sticks? It's possible using 802.11 and clever antenna positioning to get point-to-point 1Mbps links over distances of 15km. The antennas aren't cheap (500?) but it sure beats the cost of satellite broadband. If you could persuade a 'neighbour' to piggyback bandwidth in this way you'd be flying.
I am trying to raise some interest in the village for leasing a line into the village hall and setting up an RF LAN. It would be about 5K per year for the line but most people want their own dedicated lines (even if they are dog-slow by comparison) The closest broadband revolution stops on the other side of a big old hill so no line of sight comms possible but good idea lisaj
