i bought my computer from an indiverial. how can i get a free copy of windowsxp. i didn't know anything about conterfit windows until i got this computer.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.A bit of a catch 22 situation here.It sounds as though you have bought a PC that does not have an operating system installed, and Microsoft does not give them away for free.You can download a 'dodgy' copy of XP, but you need to have an operating system installed to be able to do this.I would not recommend using a 'dodgy' copy as Microsoft are clamping down on them, and you will not be able to get any automatic updates from them.It looks as though your best bet is to purchase a new legal copy of XP.
you could try linux for a while. cheeplinux.com allow you to order a cd with either the full version which yuo install on your pc or a live cd version which you never install but just run from the cd. you dont need an operating system already installed/working to use either of these and it could be useful if yuo cant afford a windows disc or dont want to pay for one. has full access to the internet and many other useful applications
