Particularly as this person was obviously fairly inexperienced. I always take into account the expericne of a person before making a reply on answerbank.
Yes, folders are used all over the place, but they are generally created in other directories when programs are installed and things like that.
But generally USER files should go into My Documents.
By keeping all USER files in My Documents it makes them easier to find and much easier to back up.
Putting user files anywhere by in My Documents is just asking for trouble.
As you problably know, in the early days of Windows there was no My Documents folder and often program files and user files were scattered all over the C drive, this made it very difficult to find your user files or do a backup.
