1.72 GB (.mov file) needs compressing to 100mb...How???
5 Answers
Please help I have gone to hell and back already with this movie but I shall not go into that, at present I have 1.72 GB .mov file that I want to upload to youtube but it has to be 100mb max.
I am using an apple laptop and I have tried to compress it using imovie which the movie was already in.
I have compressed it in share option of imovie in quicktime section and expert settings, and had to change frame rate to 1(fps) to compress it to 100mb.
Am I doing this right? As the final result is of course terrible. Is there another way on imovie or some freeware I can download to compress it better.

Sorry What..the? I'm not at my home PC so I can't entirely remember. But I seem to remember dragging my video file onto the little converter screen and hitting a convert button.

You can use Quicktime Pro to do it.

Never used it, but this free GUI can probably help you:

I assume it'll have some options somewhere where you can either type in the required output file size, or the resolution of the output file. If the latter is true, then go for a small resolution, since youtube's videos are only small anyway.

Figured out how to work the divx converter via the online tutorials (for mac) online - you select custom convert so it opens a window allowing you to select various options -so I choose compress to 100mb and 'bobs you uncle' its compressed and now on youtube hip hip horray!!
Thank you for all the help and posts it was very kind of you, again many thanks
