Wireless Router Problems-ish
3 Answers
I have recently had a new laptop so i wish to set up a wireless network from my existing computer which uses blueyonder broadband.
Right so i need a wireless router. Sounds simple enough...
But what kind should i get and do i need anything else? An adapter of anykind that goes in the laptop... a PC card... some kind of dongle...
I aint got a clue...
Can someone help me and mayb recommend one.
Also how far can i use it from the router? does it have to be the same house, street, few miles away?
Please help...

The signal from the router usually reaches about 50 meters but this depends how many walls etc it has to go through! So definately the same house, possibly the same street, definately not a few miles away.

As I said, if your laptop is already wireless enabled (which most new ones are) then you don't need a PC card. If you take it to Uni or work, provided there is wireless internet available then your laptop should pick it up.
I recently took mine on holiday where the hotel had Wifi and I was able to connect to the internet no problem.
