When I click the back button on hotmail it brings up the following page and won't return me to the inbox. Is there any way of preventing this?

it's because it's a session specific site...it's for security

for example if you left the computer somebody could click '<- back' and read all your mail...

it happens with most sites you have to log in to, there will normally be a 'return to inbox' link instead... if the e-mail contains a link use CTRL+N to open a new window then paste the URL rather than clicking it..
The easiest thing to do is simply to open each mail in a new window. i.e. when viewing your inbox, hold down the shift key when you click on a mail item. Once you've read the mail, you can close the window and your inbox will still be on the screen.
