Internet cuts off?

My friend is having trouble with their internet in that it seems to just go off from around 8.30pm and he cant work out why. I think they are on AOL. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Without more info no one could provide an answer
eg provide ISP ,package ,operating system ,how do they connect eg modem, router etc

do you mean it goes off and stays off or the problem begins at 8:30 and is then interimittent for the rest of the evening ?
if it the latter then they have a similar problem to me as mine also cuts off intermittently usually after 7:30 !

my personal belief is that it is related to the distance to the exchange.i am 2 miles away from my exchange and have an up to 6 meg connection meaning that my line cant support this at busy times.
