Problem with pc freezing
2 Answers
my laptop occasionally freezes and the only way to resolve it is to hold the off button and restart it. i am with ntl (1mb broadband), i have a belkin wireless router and am running windows xp. my laptop has been back to the workshop on at least 4 occasions but they cannot replicate the fault. do you have any ideas such as compatability issues between belkin and ntl broadband. many thanks

You specify hardware for your router and your ISP however what makes you think that this is an internet related problem?
Some product info about your Laptop may be beneficial..
Also, is there any trend to what your are doing when your laptop freezes OR are there any error messages, strange sounds etc beforehand?
To me, it may be a driver or dll causing an error (e.g. the classic 'AVI file problem' causing explorer to crash out).. If not, then it may be hardware related.. if your laptop is one of the standard 'off the shelf' one's.. invest in some decent RAM from Crucial or something.. helped mine loads!!

Thank you for your interest. I am keen to resolve this.
I could be looking at a word document, email, internet. On a few occasions I have not entered any icon on my desktop and it has frozen there! I assume I am 'connected' to the internet permanently as I am on broadband. I may be wrong. It was bought from Evesham in January this year.
There are no strange noises before hand.
What specific information could I supply you with? Many thanks.
