If you can't reset it from within the BIOS, you could take out the battery from on the motherboard, and wait a bit for the BIOS to reset.

I had the battery out for over an hour and then put it back in and nothing?
As fo3nix said, the most common way of clearing an `inadvertantly' set BIOS password is to remove the battery or alter the jumper settings.
When you did this, did you shut off the external power to the PC, you must do so.
The battery only needs to be removed for about 10secs.
Alternatively, enter the BIOS and reset it to `Default Values' which might clear it but you will then have to re-enter all your setings.
If all else fails, there are programmes available which will remove the password from the CMOS PROM chip but these can be a little dodgy and will depend upon which mobo you have.
You might try these default BIOS passwords first:

AMI concat
Award AMI_SW (case sensitive)
bios AMI!SW/
setup AMI?SW/
cmos j262

NOTE: With respect to the Award BIOS, the "AWARD_SW" (use without quotes) and (is case sensitive) password should even override a set password! If not, you may also want try j262 as the password.
Sorry, should have previewed the last answer. A/B doesn't like gaps in a line.
The password is only the last part of the line in each case.
You need a program called ''Kill CMOS'' which you can easily find by doing a Google search, it is a small program small enough to fit on a floppy.
Boot from the floppy and follow the instructions, it has the ability to reset the whole BIOS.
Try this site it gives all you need to know about the bios password
