Windows XP Service Pack????

I have been told never to download anything that says Service Pack on it as it can "do things" to your computer?? create/cause virus etc???? Is this just total rubbish or not. Dont understand why I was told never to install it.

I think you'll find that a lot of us are using XP Service Pack 2 so I can't see why it should be a problem. If you have an illegal copy of Windows though, you might start getting some pop-ups regarding same after you've done it.
