I want to use a rewriteable CD to make backup copies of my Quicken files. The software says to set up my writer as a hard drive but I can't find how to do this. Can anyone offer me some guidance on this please? Thanks for any contributions.

It sounds as if the software was being metaphorical: in easy cd creator you have to format the CD-RW using directCD then use Windows explorer to drag and drop file to the formatted CD-RW rather like E: was a small hard drive (or large floppy drive ie if E: was your burner CD ROM drive you would drag and drop to E:). I think Nero is similar. The only unusual thing is that you have to write a TOC in order for non-burner CD ROMs to "see" the CD-RW.
I used rewritables for a long time.Beware, for no reason or without any warning they just stop working.Any info stored on them is lost....forever.I have gone back to writables and at 30p to 40p each it is worth avoiding hassle.
