Yahoo chat

I'[m trying to use tha chatroom on the asnwerbok group, and everytime the chat applet loads, my machine slows to a complete stop. I can watch the chat happening, but I type at about one character a minute. Can't ctrl-alt-del out of it, can;t switch to another window, can't do anything but reset the system :( Any idea what I can do?? Am running XP home, if that makes a difference, with the latest Internet Explorer

Hi Shybear.....I wondered what was going on. One minute you were there, the next you weren't. I'm sorry I can't help you with your problem but I am even more sorry you couldn't make it to the chat. It was a good night and we are all going to try it again as soon as we can so hopefully someone will be able to help you out before then. Maybe sft can help...can you sft?

shybear, check your task manager ctrl-alt-del on xp see what processes running.. sounds like something hogging your cpu usage, maybe cleanup mgr or something. Did you try restarts? you got more than 500Mhz and 256 ram?

Just my normal stuff running. nothing intensive. Only using 3% pf CPU, and seeing as I have an XP2600+ processor and 1GB RAM, I don't think that can be the problem anyway.

Hi Shybear...sorry you couldn't make the chat room....not got any ideas at all what could be wrong...I have similar spec (2.53g Pent.4 and 1gb Ram) and I have no problems....perhaps re-installing the Yahoo chat room software might help?
