LG 3300 is making me want to scream

I have an LG 3300 that has developed a problem that I cannot solve.
There is a bar, taking up the bottom half of the screen that says ' voice mail', and then 4 symbols beneath it, that has appeared and won't budge.
I love the phone but it's hardly had any use cos of this.
HELP !! xx
