Please help me!! Realtek?? I have no sound!!
7 Answers
I was getting constant error messages when I started up my lap-top and eventually I discovered it was linked to the Realtek player installed so I un-installed it {not really knowing what I was doing} and now I have no sound, my Skype wont work because of it and I'm stuck! I just tried to play a music file and got this message - 'Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly' - PLEASE can someone advise me - is there something simple I can do to just re-download something? Thanks in advance.

or go onto the Realtek website and download their latest drivers.

i agree with wide boy and think that ur original error message is the one loads of us got since windows released a "update"....quite rightly much up is a better word for it.
The reason i reccomended a system restore is to solve the problem of u deleing what u deleted after u recived the erroe message, then i said for u to post the error to make sure i was giving u the correct link to update....if u are getting the problem aload of us have the link provided by hocky in this post http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Technology/Comp uters/Question389214.html should solve it...however i would still recomend a system restore to the time before u deleted what u though was the problem, just incase, then updating windows.
