On every site the pictures do not appear, instead a box appears in their place with an icon in the corner showing a circle, square and tringle. If I right click and then go to show picture they appear but I have to do this each time. This has only happened in the last week, I have run anti virus and spysweeper programmes but still the problem persists - any ideas would be much appreciated.
many thanks

You've not said which browser you're using but it's almost certainly Internet Explorer because this is a well-known problem with Microsoft's pathetic browser. Unfortunately, the fact that the problem is well-known doesn't mean there's a universal solution.

Try this:
(These instruction are based on IE6. If you've got IE7, things might be slightly different)
Go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced.
Scroll down to the section under 'Multimedia'.
If there's no tick next to 'Show pictures', click to insert one.
Then click 'Apply' and 'OK'.

If there's already a tick next to 'Show Pictures', click to remove it. Click 'Apply'. Then click to remove it. Click 'Apply' and 'OK'.

If that doesn't work, and you're using IE6, upgrade to IE7 (either from the Microsoft website or by looking for the program on one of the 'free' disks which come with computer magazines).

If you're still getting nowhere, read this lot:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283807

Finally, when you've given up and reached the stage where you're sticking pins into statuettes of Bill Gates, download a decent browser which actually works:

Oops, slight typo!

The 3rd paragraph should read:
If there's already a tick next to 'Show Pictures', click to remove it. Click 'Apply'. Then click to replace it. Click 'Apply' and 'OK'.

Chris

(PS: The reason I switched to Firefox was because I got fed up of images not displaying in Internet Explorer. This had occurred with IE4, IE5 and IE6, with Win95, Win98 and WinMe, on a variety of PCs. Since switching to Firefox, I've never experienced this problem)

Thank you so much Chris
I really haven't a clue with computers, did I do something to make this happen or is it just a problem that yuo can't prevent?
Thanks again you've made my day.
Thanks for your reply.

No, you didn't do anything to make it happen. It's just one of those things which seems to happen to Microsoft programs from time to time.
