Downloading films

What format can i download in that will play on my dvd or what do i need to do to convert them, most films i see online are avi, thankyou

you could buy a divx dvd player but a bit expensive.
you will need to convert it to dvd with a programme such as vso divx to dvd or just google free avi to dvd download.
if you want to play them on your pc just download the divx player ( again google it.).
dvd santa is a good converter but cost a few pounds.

If you have Nero 6 and above then after you have burned the film to dvd using the Make DVD feature it will play on your standalone dvd player.
Always worked ok for me

thanks to pauln90 who has a good point. i just tried recode on nero 7 and it converted an avi film ready to burn in 10 or 15mins conpaired to 1hr 20 mins for an avi to dvd stand alone programme. i know what i will use from now on.

You may try Movavi Video Suite, this software can convert video to the right DVD format and burn DVD, I always use it to burn DVD movie and watch with my DVD player, very easy to use and works perfect for me, here is a guide about it
