I would be tempted to fix the root cause of this problem. Perhaps the drivers for the card are corrupt. Without knowing more about your system (e.g. operating system), it is a tad difficult, but, assuming it is Windows XP, if you look in Device Manager (right-click My Computer on the Desktop, and select Properties, then the Hardware tab). Under Display Adapters there should be a mention of your graphics card. If there is something listed with a large yellow exclamation mark, that indicates there is a problem with that bit of hardware and it may be an idea to re-install the drivers.
You would need your ATI CD to install the drivers, or even better, download them from the ATI website.
