can i use a digital camera bought in Japan in the UK?

Joking aside, I assume you mean will it work with technology here? Well if it uses USB to connect to the computer, then there's no problem, most computers here have a few USBs to plug devices in. You may have to buy a plug converter if the electric system is different in Japan, but if it uses AA batteries (which you will be able to recharge by other means) there is no problem. I'm pretty certain an AA battery is an AA battery where ever you go.
Yes the electricity is different in Japan. So be very careful if you want to use it in the u.k. Your best bet is to buy a set of rechargable batteries ...they come in packs with transformer ....try to get a worldwide model if you can so you can use it all over the world. I find hydride batteries the best.
