PS2 Problem

Can anyone help? My PS2 is suddenly struggling to play DVD's, it's fine with games but when I put a film in, it makes odd noises and shows the "system configuration" screen for ages before eventually saying disc read error. I have tried several different discs, so it's not a dodgy DVD! Usually after several times of turning off or re-setting, the DVD will play but it can take ten minutes and it's a real pain! Anyone else had this problem? TIA x

I dont think there is any real solution, it sounds like it's simply coming to the end of it's life, it happens to the best of us all eventually.

When my last ps2 did the same thing, i was actually able to get in touch with sony and get it replaced,and there were no questions asked regarding it's warranty, which was just as well,it's going back some now,but i'm almost certain it was outside of its warranty.
Hopefully you will get a bit more life out of it yet, but i think its inevitable that its going to need replacing pretty soon.

I had this problem too, exactly the same. just age really. but give it one last shot, try cleaning the inside. just google it and theres how to do it and stuff, not too hard.

these sites say use oxygen stuff but i just blew it and that seemed to get it working for a month or so.

ok now ive dropped it so its broken, but it was working :P haha.
