Does anyone know why when I try to delete compressed old files, it takes 1 second and finishes, but hasn't actually deleted anything? is there another program I could use to delete it? thanks in advance.

Are you trying to delete it directly from the registry ? If not I can tell you how.

erm, well all im doing is,

going to start, all programs, accessories, system tools, then the diskclean up.

then click compressed old files then clicking ok.
Go to start, run, type in regedit, click ok, click the + next to Hkey local machine, software, microsoft, windows, current version, explorer, volume caches. Now, you can delete the folder called Compress old files. You could delete just whats inside the folder but i've had tech assistance tell me to just delete the entire folder. I STRONGLY recommend that you back up your registry before doing this and do not do anything else in the registry editor unless you really know what you are doing. Don't depend on system restore to bail you out of trouble. The registry editor can cause irreversible damage if you are not careful.
