How many photos/mp3's and hours worth of video could you store on one of these big boys??

It depends entirely on the audio, video and picture quality and how long the music and videos files are.
There are about 3300 mp3s (243 hours worth) in my collection that total just over 22Gb. So after a bit of maths a 1Tb drive would hold around 150000 MP3s or 11000 hours of music.
But then although it's claimed the drive is 1Tb the actual usable space will be surprisingly smaller.

It would depend upon the file sizes but roughly half a million MP3 tracks or 2000 hours of video.
If photos were taken on a typical digital camera, using the highest resolution settings, the file sizes might be around 5MB, so you'd be able to store around 200,000 pictures. However, if you were collecting pictures from web pages (with typical file sizes of around 50KB), you'd be able to store around 20 million.
