I'm new to digital photography and rechargeable batteries. Please can someone tell me how long recharged batteries will last off the recharger but not in the camera? (ie, in the camera bag as spares)

Thanks.

I,ve just used a set that had been in my bag for 3 months and they were fine.Never left them much longer than that though.

Thanks, I'll bear that in mind, pauln90.
recharge your rechargeables the night before you need them they loose power steadily from being charged up.or carry a "duracell"set spare
if you have the 2500mAh type.these can take 28hours to charge up fully, see your charges instructions

Thanks, Deggers, that's what I needed to know.

Cheers!
rechargeables lose about 1% of their charge per day - less if you keep them cool (in the fridge?)
