What password do you mean? The Acer eRecovery password? Have you tried the default password of six zeros? Isn't there a hint on screen?
The password may be in a hidden file. What's the make and model of the laptop?

The recovery files are probably in a hidden partition. Try looking for a text file called:
TOOLS\AIMDRS.DAT the password may be in there.
Otherwise Acer support.
If you've got a valid operating system disk, such as Windows XP or whatever, you could simply format the hard disk. You'd then have to install your operating system and download and install the relevant drivers from Acer. It'll take longer but at least it'll work.
