Syncing my ipod - HELP!!!!

I have an apple ipod and last night when I finished downloading some songs, It wouldnt let me sync the ipod. When I click "file" "sync ipod" is not highlighted.

I have tried searching on the help/support section, but can't find anything to help. Can someone please advise me, Im new to all this, and its driving me mad!!!! thank you x

Try restarting computer, taking iPod out. Make sure iPod connected to computer directly, not through a hub.
