First Christmas

My boyfriend is 25 and about to be 26 come January. Its our first Christmas together and we are completely in love, I want to get him something extreamly memmorable for his xmas gift. Later we plan on getting married so I want our first xmas together to be very special. I dont have all the money in the world so I decided to get him a few little gifts. Were going to NYC Nov. 30 for a one day adventure and I thought maybe there would be something neat to get him there but he's more familular with NYC than I am and its just a trip for 2. So it would be hard to get him a gift in a place where I dont know anything about and he's right there wtihe me. He likes art alot and does a lot of painting with oil based paints but he has a lot of art supplies. (also an art major) He also likes his privacy not a very outgoing person. He plays golf on the occasion and is good but isnt too obsessed about it, just a regular hobby. He loves dvd's, he has a million of them! Its hard to buy for someone who goes out and buy's everything they want so Im not left with many options. He loves the show HOUSE (he has all the seasons Im pretty sure) and all the Discovery Channel stuff and has a strong interest in History. All Ive come up with is simple things like an ice cream basket full of his fav. toppings and a photo album I could make him but I want to get him something that really says I love you. ugh. Any ideas on what I could give him or make for him?

make him a collage with pics of u bot and tickets of things u've done, i did 2 for my bf and included tickets from gigs and holidays, and get the frame engraved or something

my girlfriend and myself are in the same boat this xmas, bit short of cash. if i could wish for anything it would be for her to come into the bedroom dressed in high heels, stockings and a basque and to shag my brains out!
mind you i told her this and she just called me a pervert!
