Can anyone recommend a good broadband service provider whose speeds are actually reasonable (on an up to 8mb deal)?

I'm with Virgin at the moment and dial up is quicker than these guys.

I have just changed from virgin to

http://www.zen.co.uk

Virgin used to be good, but service outages recently have been appalling.
Have a look at http://www.thinkbroadband.com.

Avoid all the heavily advertised ones!

Hi Dannyjoseph.......the reality of broadband is that the speed is governed by the equipment in the exchange and the line between the exchange and you...it dosen't matter who the ISP is they cannot provide more than the line will take.
Visit the various isp websites and do a 'speedcheck' with them.
An earlier post talked of 24MB speeds there is no way you can get this unless you use one of the very few special exchanges and you live ver close to the exchange..
Most broadband users a living with up to 2MB.
