Is it possible for just one person to drag a website down ?
64 Answers
Seriously, if you visit a site and see the same person there, day and night, posting posting posting posting posting posting without mercy, saying nothing and picking on all and sundry, do you get just a little bit fed up ? I saw another site where a single user had monopolised EVERY thread in every section, with utter drivel.
It is happening here now. I will have to revisit my many alter personas to resist the Invasion Of The Dull.

Yep! They're called trolls and after a while everyone gets to know them.
Once you know who they are (and it's not hard to suss it out), you can retaliate by winding them up and baiting them in return, so that in the end they dig themselves into a hole they can't get out of. At some point they'll foolishly do or say something that will get them instantly dismissed.
If they don't get themselves banned by their IPA, they'll come back under one of their numerous pseudonyms, but make themselves so obvious by the stupidity of their remarks that it's easy for those who know them to point them out to the mods and get them banned - again.
Throughout all this, everyone else has a jolly good laugh at their utter stupidity and lack of a life, although there will always be those who continue to give them the attention they crave.
I think every forum should have a dedicated troll-seeker/moderator who can stamp an offender's messages with "THIS PERSON IS A TROLL. DO NOT ANSWER ITS POSTS."

I don't do aliases nowadays. I used to, without shame, and had loads of good harmless fun in surreal situations with other surreal and charming characters whom I miss to this day.
The trouble with current CB is that there is nothing to stimulate your mind, nothing to prod you to create a new character and jump on the back of somebody's motorcycle.
lol (compulsory)
