Laptop to LCD via VGA cable - no sound

I have just connected my laptop to my LCD TV via a VGA cable to watch a DVD but have no sound through the TV. Has anyone any ideas?

As a VGA cable only carries video, the sound will come from either the laptop's loudspeaker or the headphone socket. To listen through the tv you will need to connect an audio lead from the laptop to the tv.
