click start > run
and type iexplore.exe
then click OK
Is it internet explorer you are trying to open? Assuming XP it should be in your start - all programs list.

If it is Windows Explorer it is Start - all programs - accessories.

Thanks, kujawaski, that's what I wanted. And Ethel, for some reason I can't find any links anywhere to Internet Explorer !! Thanks anyway
If there isn't an icon for IE on your desktop, you can enable it as follows:

Right-click on the desktop and select Properties.
Click the Desktop tab.
Select Customize Desktop.
Tick the Internet Explorer box at the top and select OK.
