help on car insurance/accident...

i am stuck. i sold a car privately in oct 06. it had been advertised via a magazine and on a website so proof there that i was selling it. i sent the docs to DVLA the same day it was sold. The car was involved in an accident in april 2007(the drivers fault) . DVLA gave info that i was still the owner therefore insurers contatcted me. I informed them that the car was sold in oct 06. DVLA had not received docs form and i also ended up having to pay road tax to them for it as i failed in my duty to ensure they had reveived the change of ownership documents. anyway since april 2007 this has been following me constantly getting letters and calls about it from insurers and solicitors. i have put everything in writing and it still keeps coming back to me. what do i do? help!!.............

This is a typical example of how the authorities in the UK have no interest in sorting out problems that are of their own making. You are making things worse by acceding to their demands.

In your situation, once I had written to inform them of the situation � I would, in no uncertain terms tell them to f*ck off. If they wanted any money, I would see them in court (with a copy of the letters I had written to them).

How can you license a car you do not own and have no insurance for?
Soon you will be receiving parking fines, speeding tickets and maybe the congestion tax in London for your old car. If you keep paying, they will keep asking.

Whenever dealing with any governmental organisation � assume that the people you are dealing with are complete d*ck heads and you won�t go far wrong.

Always keep a copy of any documents sent � preferably send copies/keep originals.
