We need to get a new one on the roof but we use a freeview box and was wondering with the digital switch coming, will a normal one do. Were going to call someone to do it but don't want to put the wrong one up and then have to change it again. Any help?

The best thing is to try and see what reception you get. The other thing which effects it is that most digital transmitters are not yet working at full power, so although you do not get a strong signal now , at 'digital switchover' you might. If you are definately going to get a new aerial get a proper 'high gain' aerial...if you get an aerial company in to do it that is what they will advise....but it isn't cheap!!
Most sold these days are suitable for digital use. Maplin and Argos do quite a few. Which one you need will depend on where you live. Have a look around at your neighbours' aerials and see what they are using as a guide.
BBC reception advice is a good source of information , shows you your nearest transmitter and which group aerial you need( or get a wideband one) as is the Radio and Telly website.
