norton anti virus

Hi I recently had problem looking at the allowed list in this program .I contacted symantec and they told me download the latest anti virus for free as my subscriction is well in date
however where i tried to load it up it said there was another nortons running so i deleted my nortons internet security .and the download worked when i went to put my code in it wouldn't let me so I'm on a 15 day trial .can i download the security system back again for free as my sub are well in date and how do you do this please
