rar torrent password

I don't download much but I've just spent a whole day downloading a film torrent that turns out to need a password to uncompress the rar file. You only get this password by signing up for a load of stuff that I don't want. Is there a way round this or is the the penalty I pay for not going to Block Buster?

Try downloading films as AVI's as apposed to RARs. Some RAR are legit but the ones asking for passwords or registration you will find are viruses.

A good and well trusted site for torrents is: -

This site also has an excellent forum. If you are unsure whether a torrents is good quality/legit etc etc go to www.vcdquality.com. If you film is listed on here you will see who has uploaded it and you will know that it is a legit copy

I use this for all my films and have NEVER had a problem.

Dont think ive been to blockbuster for at least 6 months. No point when you can download the latest films before UK release.

no probs. Bittorrenting is a weird thing to get used to (peers and seeds) but once you have got ibto it its fine.

I have downloaded RARs in the past, but they are a poin as you then have to use Winrar to uncompress them. A bit pointelss when you can fiond another uploader who has te same film but as one AVI file.

I also use a www.mininova.org for downloading. There seems to be an ever increasing number of users uploading password protected rar files. I download a lot of rar's but I always check other downloaders comments first as they will usually tell you if they are passworded. Always steer clear of the passworded ones as they lead you to rubbish sites who want you to pay for the password.

As spaced has already mentioned, if you can get the movie in avi format, then you will not have the password problem, but if you can only find a rar of the movie you want, check the comments first.

they use azeurus and download from mininova


on mininova it tells u if they are passworded or open to all.

Troll no one really cares what you think. And who are you to pass judgement on me or anyone else. I gave cam sound advice. Have you nothing better to do than to act a as an AB rent-a-cop and preach why torrenting is frowned upon. Are you so naive that you dont reliase tha a large number of people download torrents. You obviously have no idea on torrenting, becuase if you did you would know that torrenting is the safest way to share software and files. Viruses are very rare...if you know what to look for!

Spaced, get off your high horse and stop having a go at someone when you're in the wrong - unless piracy has become legal since I last checked.

I'm guessing you're slightly deluded as you mention downloaded films as being "legit" copies, which they blatantly aren't.

I'm with AC on this one, I have nothing on my computer that I haven't paid for. I'd like to thank you personally and the knobwits like you that force me to pay more for my music and films.

I'm not saying anything about torrent ..p2p is a sound principle ... with legitimate content
my problem is with dishonesty and stealing. I don't have to justify not doing it ... nor am I boasting ... I'd only do that about something that takes effort.
It's sad that you don't seem able to believe someone can survive without it.
