Fifty hard wacks with a sledge hammer should see it off!
What type of computer, laptop or desktop.

And why, is it for some sort of insurance claim ?

For a laptop you could try dropping it, maybe on a marble floor (I did this about 7 years ago at an airport with my company laptop. Case cracked and whole thing was replaced).

For a desktop, not so easy.

The inside of a desktop case is mostly air with just a few small parts. I would have though pouring a liquid like coke onto the electronic parts inside would kill it.

Or get an electrical power surge to go through it. Try putting it outside when it is raining and hope it is hit by lightning.

Or drive a vehicle over it.

Mind you , I am not sure why I am helping you wreck a computer as it sounds as though you are up to no good !!
Install Norton Internet Security.
If that don't kill it, try Vista :-)
The security agencies incinerate the important but redundant bits of theirs. You could construct a bonfire to replicate the process.
Pick a day when the computer is absolutely essential and you cannot live without it - it is guaranteed to die on that day.
LOL rojash!

A strong magnet next to the hard drive should produce interesting results.
lol roj .. you are a rotweiler ;-)

if that doesn't work ... how about this

You have to destroy the memory board to stop the Nigerians or Indians getting important data i.e bank details etc as refuse sites often sell them to countries like India and Nigeria. I saw it on T.V last year. Take it out and put it on a bonfire perhaps?
jenga ... you need to destroy the HDD not the memory board.
