sky broadband (help please)

My son set up his sky broadband this morning. All working fine. At lunch time on going to use his phone nothing not working. He disconnected all broadband took off phone filter still nothing. phoned BT they said no fault on line anyone any ideas to what would be wrong. They will come out to=morrow but if fault is his own he will have to pay. Help please

are the lights on the netgear router lit up?
is your son using a wireless connection or ethernet cable?
has he tried resetting the router ?

thanks for reply he has disconnected broadband but phone line not working. Took everything back to beginning plugged phone back in as it was before but will not work. If I call his number it is engaged tone and says this caller is busy. Don't know what has gone wrong is it something he has done when installing broadband.
Sounds like a line fault to me...
