PC help need ASAP!
7 Answers
In our house we have 2 pcs. Only this one is connected to the internet, the other one just has documents and photos etc on it. Have just turned it on for the first time in a week or so and absolutely everything has been wiped off it! It is just gone back to it's basic mode. I don't know what has happened or if I can even rectify the problem. Any help gretly appreciated as I have lost all my photos, documents and everything! Many thanks, A desperate daffi! x

But you had them all backed up on CD or DVD didn't you !
This is why we say to people back up everything on CD or DVD in case your computer dies.
p.s. I doubt if you have lost everything. Files dont usually just disappear off a computer.
Try going into My Computer and open your hard drive. See if you can navigate to the folders where you files are.
Just a hunch, but could one of your family have done a reinstall of Windows without you knowing ?
Or maybe done a system restore from an older version of windows?
This would have put the computer back into "basic" mode.

as vhg said above, but also
are you sure somebody hasn't logged the computer in under a different user or administrator
Also
try going to search on the start menu and search for files and folder then put in *.jpg and run the search, this will find all file that have the jpg extension which your pic probably will
If the drive has been wiped depending how important these files where to you it is still possible to recover the data, but you will have to take the computer to someone who has the equipment to do this, and it may be expensive. most important thing if you intend to do this is do not install or save anything else on that computer
