What exactly is a mini dv digital camcorder, what is the format, does it play on your tv and computer.Forgive my ignorance, but I've been offered one at a good price but I cannot weigh up if it records to a memory card or a small disc or some other format, Thanks in advance

If you don't know what a camcorder is or anything about camcorders, how do you know that you're charged a fair price? How sure are you that it's not defective?

It does have slight defect, but that does not detract from it's general function. The list price for this particular model is in the mid one hundreds, so at �20.00, it has got to be a good buy, even if I don't know how it operates.

If you google the make and model number, then there may be instructions on how to work it - but for �20, I hope you know the person who you might buy it from! I'd be ultra-wary of a digital camcorder for that price!!!

Mini DV usually records to a mini DV tape around �16.00 for 3 when I last bought some

Thank you for that Ice Maiden, I've tried all the search engines, but it is an old model I believe, but no worries about buying it for �20.00, it's not even the price of a good lunch.
