Limewire not connecting
14 Answers
Why would Limewire pop up a mesage telling me that it's not connected to the internet when I do a search, despite the fact I am connected?

Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to enter the Task Manager and then (temporarily) disable the firewall. Try again to connect to Limewire. If you now can, you'll know for certain that the problem lies with your firewall. Turn it back on (the easiest way might be to restart your computer) and take a look at its settings, to see if you can figure out how to remove the block. (The exact instructions will vary across different firewalls).

glad you got it sorted, may I recomend frostwire as an alternative to limewire, it looks the same and works the same, uses the same networks plus a few more and works like the pro (paid for) version of limewire for free.

You can have them both installed, but don't run them both at same time else your poor computer will get really confused
and if you do install it make sure you take the ticks out of all the boxes on the license agreement page including the bottom one (that you would think you have to leave ticked) else it will install the horrible ask toolbar

hehe no worries, didn't take it as rude,
It gets rid of the annoying do you want to upgrade to pro prompt at the start and searches more sources including bit torrents which limewire doesn't
As said you can install both and have a look and if you don't like it uninstall it, just don't run both at same time and select no when it prompts you if you want to uninstall limewire
Frostwire is written by the original people that wrote limewire but they weren't happy with the way limewire was starting to go commercial which kinda goes against the entire idea behind limewire so they basiclly wrote and released an improved version of the pro version of limewire for free.

I'll just leave it uninstalled, I hardly ever used it as I tend to want whole albums, so I use mininova, just the odd occasion I just want a single.
Yes, my day has been OK. Dad was supposed to be round for dinner but he was busy building a shed so we've re-arranged for next week. I've just been pottering about really. How about you? I sent you an e-mail ages ago, did you not receive it?
