I recently bought a DVD burner from PC World. For some reason it won't burn DVD's though. It reads them fine and it is fine burning CD's. I don't want to take it back, cause it's probably something i'm doing wrong. When I got it i set it to slave and just plugged it in. Is there anything else i have to do? Ta

Also, when there is no disk in there 'My Computer' reckons it's a DVDRW drive, then when i try to burn a disk it reckons it's a CDRW drive or disappears completely.
under 'my computer' it should only show as a dvd drive(mine does anyway) try uninstalling it,then re-starting your pc.your pc will then re-install it and maybe will fix it
ok, if its the only drive on the IDE line, set it to master. If there is another drive, it goes to th OPPOSITE of the other one. Make sure yr burning software is selected to DVD. In nero, when you first open it, you have to select cd or dvd. make sure windows is fully updated. Obviously, the built in burner in windows xp wont do DVD, so use nero. That should sort it. And use the correct format of disc (plus or minus)
