Anti-Virus probs

After yet another problem with AVG lI uninstalled it using revo uninstaller , everything - user settings , registry entries the lot . Instaled Avast , now my security center shows both of them & says 'multiple anti-virus programs show that they are turned on & up to date ' WTF? Help pls

Never heard of Revo uninstaller but just looked it up on the web.

Trouble is, because you did not use Windows to uninstall AVG then Windows still thinks it is installed and so reports you have two AV programs installed.

Only suggestion I can think of is to reinstall AVG and then uninstall it the proper way, through "Add and Remove Programs".

Why do you use a program like Revo when Windows provides a uninstall process?, I cant see it gains you anything, and in this case loses you a lot.

Actually just came on to say it's sorted now . That's what I ended up doing - more by luck than judgement , I have to admit . Read that Revo was more thorough than Windows & haven't had problems up til now . I shall now uninstall it . Ta

Revo is best used when a programs uninstaller is broken or corrupt. It's top notch then.
