Hiding my email address
I have already sort of asked for help on this, but as I am a complete technophobe I really need very basic help if possible (directing me to a manual or web site wont help).
Basically, I use a shared laptop, its quite old, wireless internet, no manual. One of the other users is my ex and he has managed to find my email address and open it without me knowing !
I have set up a new email address but I want to know how i can prevent him from finding it . Help.
(no relationship advice please !- the circumstances are complicated) - thankyou !

If so, then change your password to something new - ie different to what it was before. Then you need to make sure you do NOT check the box that says something similar to "Remember me/Remember my email address"
If you don't want him to even know which site you're using, then you need to delete your browsing history every time you finish using the internet.
Assuming you're using Internet Explorer you need to go to "Tools", then choose "Internet Options". There you'll see something that says "Browsing History". Click "Delete" and the list of sites you've visited will be deleted. To reduce the chance of him finding out should you forget to clear your list, change the amount of days your browsing is stored for to 1.
Click on "Settings" next to the delete button you clicked on and down at the bottom of the next window will be something saying "Specify how many days Internet Explorer should save the list of websites you've visited", Change the number to 1 and you're good to go.
If he's somehow accessing your laptop from another computer, then change all your passwords and get a decent firewall installed.
Hope that helps and is in basic language :)

If you are a technophobe ... how do you get near to "technology" to use it?
anyone with access to a machine and a little knowledge can access anything on any machine ....
bottom line - the only way to stop it happening is
a - stop him using the machine
b - stop using it yourself.
webmail is less vulnerable ... a google account uses secure servers ... so as long as you don't "remember" your ID or password ... it's as good as you can get.
try using ccleaner
http://www.ccleaner.com/download
it's free ... and will do a better job quicker....
