I have Adobe Photoshop 6 but I find it difficult to use and tend to use another programme I have. I bought mine on Amazon in a set with a Video pack. I also bought them as a Christmas gift for my daughter but she had more luck in using hers as she was attending classes and the instructor happened to be using Photoshop 6. She has promised to help me learn how to use the programme but since she lives in Germany, we just haven't had the opportunity yet.

I'm sorry I can't be more helpful but my daughter assures me it is a fantastic system.
This tells you about it:

But as we don't know why you want it, it is impossible to tell you which edition to buy

I've just been made redundant and now want to enter the photography business. I studied GCSE photography and 1 yr at A-level but otherwise no experience, just amateur photos.
Found a job vacancy but asks for knowledge of photoshop, so was hoping to apply and state that i've at least got it!
Thought might be worth a shot as these jobs are so hard to find!!
Hmph, for a legal version it'll cost you an arm and a leg: CS3 is 570 from Adobe themselves, 500 on Amazon. I had a quick search on eBay and found it for around 155, but those are student editions and you'll need to do some student registering jiggery-pokery with Adobe to show them you are an actual student. But you can get a free trial for 21 days (I think).

And I know it's not photoshop, but there is a very good freeware photo editing suite called GIMP. I use that occasionally as it does have some stuff I feel is better than Photoshop... though I do only have Photoshop 7.
There is this https://www.photoshop.com/express/landing.html , limited but free
don't forget the 5+ years experience ... oh and talent....

don't waste your money ... at least not for the reason you've just given

honestly rac ... it's not something you'll pick up overnight ...
I've been using it for years ... my problem is I have the skill ... but no talent ... I know where everything is ... but no idea what to do with it (why is my wife nodding knowingly????)

think up a good reason for not finishing the Alevel
throw yourself at their mercy as an enthusiastic amature ....
and take a portfolio of your best stuff (even if it's just holiday snaps) If you can demonstrate an "eye" they might just risk you

but realise ... a "real" photographer will have a portfolio accumulated over many years ... if you don't .... you're not a photographer ... just a snapper - .
You can download an Adobe Photoshop trial from the Adobe web site.

http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/index. html

You will need to register first.

As ACtheTroll says, this is a VERY complex product that is used by professional graphic artists, and you are not going to learn it overnight (or in a week, or a month).

But at least if you download the trial and install and use it for a bit you can say you have some photoshop experience.
