Ipod adapter

My mate has got a thing that she plugs into her ipod and it sends a signal to the car stereo so she can play it in the car. She doesn`t know what its called but thinks it may be illegal. Anyone got an idea what it is?

It is probably an iTrip or something similar. When they first came out it was technically illegal to use one. It is a small transmitter and you need a license for a transmitter.
When 5 million had been sold in the UK, the Government made the sensible decission, and passed it for legal use.
