I get LOADS of spam mail, deleted them yesterday and have another 81 today, some of them are really rude,is there a way of deleting them all in one go without having to tick the little boxes, I tried clicking on clear all at the bottom of the mail page but nothing happened, tried the click and drag system for deleting but that didn't work, they are driving me mad!!! I can only do basic stuff on the computer and nobody I know really uses a computer, so am stuck. Am with Yahoo and have Norton installed. Any help would really be appreciated.

Isn't there a 'select all' button anywhere on yahoo?
Dump your existing email account and sign up another new one.

thanks henrys, something else to consider trying, they are just so intrusive.
I'm with Yahoo. Just click on "check all", then "delete". It will always ask you "are you sure?" which is a bit annoying, but it gets rid of them quick enough x
(2-part post):

Henry has posted that reply many times before but, although I'm a great fan of Firefox, there's absolutely nothing it can do to get rid of spam.

Firstly, if you're 'ticking little boxes' it suggests that you're using web-based mail rather than getting your mail through an email client such as Outlook Express. Web-based mail is always 'second best' to using a proper client application. (It's only real advantage is that it can be accessed from any PC, so it's useful if you want to get your mail away from home).

So switch to using Outlook Express (or Outlook, or any other email client). Assuming that your email account is with your ISP, instructions on how to set up Outlook Express should be on their web pages. (If you can't find the information, or need help, just post again telling us who provides your email service).

Switching to Outlook Express won't, in itself, get rid of spam. But it does enable you to use an additional (free) program, which prevent most spam from being downloaded to your PC. This is it:

To return, for a moment, to your original question:
Most web-based mail services have a 'select all' button. Click that and a tick will appear in every box. Then you can 'de-select' mail that you want to keep by clicking on the relevant boxes to remove the ticks.

With Outlook Express, you can select a block of emails (for deletion or to move to another folder) by clicking on the first one and then holding the 'Shift' key down while selecting the last one. To select a group of individual mails, hold the Ctrl key down while clicking on each one.

Many people around here use 'disposable' email accounts. For example, if I wanted to provide you with my email address, here on AB, I'd set up an account specifically for the purpose. I could offer it for users on future threads but, as soon as it started to receive spam, I could simply abandon it and create a new address. I've used well over a hundred disposable email addresses. (I've also got a couple of 'main' email addresses. One is for business use and one is for good friends only. I never use these addresses on websites, for online purchases or to sign up for anything. So they never get spammed).

To set up a new free email account, see paragraph 3, et seq, of my post here:

Chris
Dya know- sometimes on here i feel like that female police officer in a comedy programme, the name of which escapes me at the moment, who offers a suggestion but is totally ignored by her male colleagues! Because alegna mentioned she is with Yahoo, and didn't know a great deal about computers, I shared my experiences of how to delete Spam on Yahoo- it's a "check all" option, not "select all".
Sorry, i'm very tired + in a bad mood, i'm off to me bed now x
